LoRaWAN protocol

LoRaWAN is a data transmission network designed for wireless, fast, yet low-power communication. It is based on a wireless LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Network) technology and it is particularly suitable for sending and receiving small amounts of data. LoRaWAN is also license-free enabling setting up private networks.

IoT solutions that utilize the LoRaWAN network are cost-effective and long-lasting. The sensors used for data collection are lightweight and simple to install, requiring little to no cabling

NB-IoT

NB-IoT (Narrowband Internet of Things) is a specialized wireless communication network designed for IoT-devices. It utilizes 4G and 5G networks.

NB-IoT also utilizes LPWAN technology but unlike LoRaWAN, it operates within licensed frequency bands. NB-IoT requires constant connection to the data transmission network and has higher transmission and receiving power making it less ideal for battery powered devices. NB-IoT allows higher data transmission rate than LoRaWAN so it is better choice for moving lot of data frequently.

NB-IoT implementation is on our roadmap for 2026.

IEC 61499 defines an architecture for distributed industrial automation systems, focusing on portability, reusability, interoperability, and dynamic reconfiguration. It provides a generic model for distributed control environments, including processes, communication networks, embedded devices, resources, and applications. Applications are constructed using networks of Function Blocks, which serve as the fundamental building blocks for control logic.
